My Go To Tahini Dressing
Tahini is my obsession. Another healthy option is this insane Tahini dressing basic recipe that brings a lot of taste to everything: from sandwiches to salads. You can even dip your veggies or fries in this tasty Tahini dressing or top your pizza with this delicious sauce. So I had to share an entire post on how to do a Tahini dressing because it is so simple and too good.

Let’s dig into it.
What is Tahini?
In case you’ve never heard of it, Tahini is a paste or butter made out of ground sesame seeds, hulled or not, black or white. Un-hulled Tahini is better as it contains more fiber. You could make your own Tahini paste by mixing plain sesame seeds in a high-speed blender for 10 to 12 minutes. Another thing is that the un-hulled Tahini will be darker than the hulled one.
Usually, any store or supermarket has Tahini. Make sure it is plain and it has nothing added in it.
It is so creamy, nutty in taste, and intense in flavor.
And did you know that plain Tahini can be used for dessert too? It is an absolute must-try. Check out my vegan oatmeal cookies or Tahini energy balls (with Cannellini beans). It is D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S. If you don’t believe me, try to dip a date in plain Tahini and eat it as a snack, the flavors are scrumptious.
How to use it?
Clearly, this Tahini dressing recipe is a great addition to salads. But it is also fantastic to accompany these so-tempting recipes:
- Roasted eggplants recipe
- Roasted winter vegetables
- Roasted vegetables with bulgur
- Sweet potato patties
I almost forgot, this Tahini dressing is the best with my chickpea omelette !!
Basic ingredients
My base for this Tahini dressing is:
- Plain Tahini
- Olive oil
- Hot/warm water
- Grated garlic clove
- A splash of maple syrup
- A pinch of salt
Using hot or warm water is key to quickly emulsifying the tahini, resulting in a smooth, lump-free texture.
A versatile Tahini dressing
This dressing is totally versatile and you can adjust it to your daily envy. Depending on my mood, I’ll add chili flakes or freshly squeezed lemon.
And if you go through my website, you’ll notice each Tahini dressing recipe has its own twist. So just try it out and let’s find which one is your top number 1 favorite!
Benefits of Tahini
Tahini seems to be packed with antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and great anti-aging compounds. They are a beneficial source of protein and they are one of the top sources of calcium.
Tahini mixed with beans makes it a complete protein. So my Tahini energy balls with cannellini beans are a powerhouse you need to try out.
