That being said, this oven roasted figs recipe is what I use to call ‘real food’ or ‘pure healthy food’! It is so savory and delicate. To be honest, this delicious roasted figs are inspired by my fantastic holidays last summer in Cyprus (with tons of figs you could pick up directly from the trees).

- figs : look for figs that are plump, slightly soft to the touch, and free of blemishes. Fresh, local figs during their season will elevate this dish (avoid figs that are too soft and will be messy to cut).
- capers : choose small, non-pareil capers for the best flavor and texture.
- pine nuts and pistachio : it boosts the healthy fats. Toasting them lightly will enhance their nutty aroma and texture, adding a delightful complexity to the dish. But this is optional.
- olive oil : opt for an extra virgin olive oil with a fruity, robust flavor.
How to cook them?
1.Prepare the figs
Gently wash the figs and carefully trim off the stems. Then, slice the figs into even rounds, approximately 1/2 cm (or about 1/4 inch) thick. Consistent thickness will help them to cook evenly.
2. Season and arrange
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange the sliced figs in a single layer. Drizzle with high-quality extra virgin olive oil. Season with freshly ground black pepper and a sprinkle of sweet paprika.
3. Roast to perfection
Roast the figs for 25-30 minutes, or until they become tender and their natural sugars begin to caramelize. You’ll notice the edges slightly browning. To finish, arrange the roasted figs on a serving platter and add the roasted nuts and capers over the top. Drizzle with a final extra virgin olive oil.

VEGAN OVEN ROASTED FIGS, WITH NUTS AND CAPERS
Ingredients
- 5 figs (medium)
- 1-2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp pistachio
- 1 tbsp pine nuts
- 1 tbsp capers
- Salt, pepper, paprika to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180 ℃ (fan).
- Wash the figs gently, cut off their stems and slice them evenly (about 1/2 cm thick).
- Line a baking sheet (to prevent sticking and catch any juices). Arrange the sliced figs in a single layer. Season with olive oil, fresh pepper and paprika.
- Roast them for 25 to 30 minutes or until you see the edge browning.
- Meanwhile, toast pine nuts and pistachio in a pan (medium heat) for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring continuously.
- Remove the roasted figs from the oven and allow them to cool slightly for 5-10 minutes. Gently arrange the warm figs on a serving platter. Add the toasted pine nuts and pistachios over the figs, followed by the capers. If desired, drizzle with a final touch of extra virgin olive oil. Serve immediately !
