A cauliflower smoothie bowl for breakfast, isn’t it amazing? Especially when you know that you DO NOT taste the cauliflower at all. When I read few years back that you can add cauliflower into a smoothie, I had to try it out. Even if it felt weird, by adding some frozen cauliflower florets to your smoothie or bowl, you’ll make your breakfast way healthier and it doesn’t change the taste. Cauliflower has neutral flavors when frozen and it adds an incredible creamy boost with plenty of benefits. As I am a big fan of cauliflower, I know that it is high in vitamin C, potassium, and fiber.

This cauliflower smoothie bowl will get you out of bed and is too good to be shared. It requires only 6 ingredients (water included), it will be super creamy and veggie-loaded.

As usual, I have made my own delicious recipe. After a few trials, my favorite mix for this smoothie bowl is frozen cauliflower along with cherries (frozen), banana, vanilla, and cashew milk. Pretty delish, right?

It requires so little effort. You’ll need to freeze your cauliflower florets the day before or have some frozen florets handy in the freezer. Then, you’ll blend all the ingredients together ! That’s it.

Finally, it’s gluten free, vegan and kids friendly too.

Because cauliflower is so easy to hide in a smoothie bowl, it’s a great healthy formula for the kids too. And I repeat : no fear here, it does not taste cauliflower at all !

Smoothie bowl or drinkable smoothie?

Two reasons I like to make a smoothie bowl (eatable with a spoon) for this recipe. First, I love to add plenty of extra fruit pieces for topping to this bowl. Second, the texture is deliciously creamy and thick enough to use a spoon.

But this is up to you if you don’t have time, drink it on the way to work. You might need to add a little extra water to make it more liquid. But it is like drinking ice-cream. A dream.

Top Tip about frozen vegetables

Do I need to freeze my cauliflower florets ? And do I need to cook it first?

You don’t want to skip the ‘freezing’ step for the cauliflower. Because, by freezing your cauliflower, you neutralize the flavor and add more creaminess to the bowl.

Some might be sensitive to bloating though with raw cauliflower. If it is your case, instead of freezing raw florets, simply steam it first for 2 to 3 minutes before freezing.

About frozen vegetables ?

One more interesting question here, is about the “frozen vegetables” and their vitamins. Do they lose their nutritional value once frozen? It seems actually that frozen vegetables are not necessarily inferior on the nutrition front. In fact, it might be the opposite. Vegetables are usually snap frozen very soon after they are picked, meaning that the nutrients are sealed into the vegetable during the freezing process.

On the other hand, the longer it takes to get fresh vegetables to us from the farm, the more the nutrients in the vegetable slowly decrease.

So, frozen vegetables are a good option too. In this delicious cauliflower bowl, I have added frozen cherries too: much easier and available all year long.

Healthy cauliflower smoothie bowl and…
