Turmeric Ginger Latte Recipe (Golden Milk with fresh ginger)
This turmeric ginger latte, also known as Golden Milk, is one of my favorite evening rituals. Made with creamy almond milk, warming turmeric, fresh ginger, maple syrup, and a pinch of black pepper, it’s comforting, naturally caffeine-free, and incredibly easy to make.

Traditionally, golden milk is made with turmeric, which gives it its beautiful golden color. But if you’ve been following me for a while, you know I always like to add a little extra goodness whenever I can! That’s why I include fresh ginger in this recipe. Not only does it add a lovely warming flavor, but ginger is also well known for its anti-inflammatory properties and pairs perfectly with turmeric.
Never tried a turmeric latte before? Here is why you should try it.
If you’ve never tried a turmeric latte before, the idea of warm plant-based milk flavored with spices might sound unusual. But trust me, once balanced with a touch of maple syrup, it becomes rich, cozy, comforting, and surprisingly delicious.
I usually make this golden milk latte with almond milk because its mild flavor allows the spices to shine. However, any plant-based milk will work beautifully, whether you prefer soy milk, cashew milk, or coconut milk. Simply choose the one that suits your taste and nutritional needs.
A simple latte that can make a difference in your midlife.
What I love most about this recipe is how simple it is. With only five (basic) ingredients, plant-based milk, turmeric, fresh ginger, maple syrup, and black pepper, you can prepare a homemade turmeric latte in just a few minutes.
This golden milk latte is much more than a warm drink. As a woman navigating midlife and menopause, I often reach for it in the evening when I need to slow down and create a calming bedtime ritual. It’s especially comforting on those nights when falling asleep feels difficult or when I wake up in the middle of the night and struggle to settle back down. Sometimes, simply sitting with a warm mug in your hands can make all the difference.
Why add black pepper to turmeric?
As you may know, turmeric comes from a root plant and has been used for centuries in Indian and Asian cuisines. It is responsible for the beautiful golden color found in many curries, soups, and lentil dishes. One simple trick I always use when cooking with turmeric is adding freshly ground black pepper because it helps improve the absorption of curcumin, the main active compound found in turmeric.
In fact, if you’ve tried my immunity booster recipe, you may remember that I add freshly ground black pepper there as well for exactly the same reason. It’s a small addition that has become one of my favorite ways to get the most out of turmeric.
Besides its practical purpose, black pepper also adds a subtle spicy kick that pairs perfectly with the warmth of ginger in this turmeric ginger latte.
