Heat the almond milk in a pot. Stir and bring gently to a boil.
In the meantime, wash the fresh turmeric and ginger roots. Roughly peel the ginger, then grate enough to get ½ tsp fresh turmeric and ½ to 1 tsp fresh ginger. Skip this step if using powdered spices.
Pour all the ingredients (turmeric, ginger, ground pepper, maple syrup) into the hot almond milk and bring to a gentle simmer for about 2 minutes, stirring occasionally to combine the flavors well.
Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into your favorite mug! Sit back and enjoy.
