What makes this smoothie special is the combination of ingredients that complement each other beautifully in term of taste (soooo good). It contains dates, Tahini, collagen, flaxseeds, chia seeds, baobab powder (optional), vegetal milk, Himalayan salt. And with the addition of few ice cubes, it is super refreshing for the summer !
Why you’ll be addicted
- Quick : It’s the kind of tasty smoothie I like to prepare when I want something ready in no time, satisfying, and packed with ingredients that support the body from the inside out.
- Using collagen powder : If you’re someone who takes collagen but never quite knows how to include it in your routine (like me), this recipe is a delicious way to do it.
Why this easy collagen smoothie works so well
You have :
- the creaminess from tahini,
- the natural sweetness from dates (dates + Tahini is so delicious, trust me),
- the nourishing flax and chia seeds for fiber, protein and healthy fats,
- the optional baobab powder (vitamin C) to boost the collagen absorption,
- and the collagen blended seamlessly into a drink that tastes indulgent but is actually very balanced nutritionally.
It’s also one of those recipes that feels like a small nutritional reset in a glass and is delicious !
The power of black Tahini
Black tahini is made from black sesame seeds, which are slightly more intense in flavor than traditional white sesame seeds.
They are known for being richer in antioxidants and in important minerals such as :
• calcium
• iron
• magnesium
• healthy fats
In Asian and Ayurvedic traditional cultures, black sesame seeds seem to be associated with supporting vitality, hair health, and overall strength. Beyond nutrition, black tahini also gives this smoothie its beautiful dark color and deep Tahini flavor. It makes it particularly eye-catching and tasty.
And, if you prefer a lighter taste, use white tahini at home. It works just as well for this easy smoothie recipe. And if you are looking to improve your nutrient intake, this recipe should be on top of your list!
Why add flaxseed and chia seeds?

Seeds may be small, but they are incredibly nutrient-dense.
- Flaxseeds are a fantastic source of fiber and omega-3 fatty acids, helping support digestion and overall wellbeing.
- Chia seeds bring additional plant protein, fiber, and healthy fats, making the smoothie more satisfying and nourishing.
Together, these seeds add texture, nutrition, and help turn an easy black Tahini collagen smoothie into a more balanced drink that keeps you full longer. It is an all-in-1.
A simple way to take collagen
If you take collagen powder (vegan or not), you may sometimes wonder how to include it in your daily routine. This collagen black Tahini smoothie recipe is a way to do it without overthinking it.
Smoothies are one of the easiest ways.
Blending collagen with ingredients like tahini, dates, and seeds helps integrate it smoothly. On the other hand, it keeps the drink delicious and naturally sweet.

Boost that collagen absorption, baby!
Here’s a little secret : collagen powder alone isn’t doing its best work without a little vitamin C. The two are besties and vitamin C helps your body actually put that collagen to use! So in this smoothie recipe, I add 1 teaspoon of baobab powder and it works like a charm !

How to Swap the Ingredients
One of the things I love about smoothies is how flexible they are. You can easily adapt this black Tahini collagen smoothie recipe depending on what you have at home or according to your taste preferences.
Here are a few easy swaps you can make :
Sweetener
• 1 to 2 Medjool dates (use 2 if you like it sweet) or any other dates.
• Or swap with another sweetener such as maple syrup or honey if preferred (adjust taste to your liking).
Black Tahini
• 1 tbsp black tahini gives the smoothie its beautiful dark color and a deeper nutty flavor.
• You can use white tahini if you prefer a lighter taste.
• Or replace tahini with another nut butter such as almond butter, peanut butter, or cashew butter if you prefer to avoid sesame.
Flaxseeds
• 1 tbsp flaxseeds adds fiber and omega-3 fatty acids.
• Note : for better absorption, it’s ideal to consume them in a smoothie, where they get naturally ground during blending.
Chia Seeds
• ½ tbsp chia seeds add fiber, healthy fats, and is a complete protein.
• Note : if you’re not a fan of chia pudding, this smoothie is actually a great way to enjoy chia seeds without noticing the texture.
• You can also replace them with hemp seeds, which provide also a strong boost of plant-based complete protein.
Milk of Choice
• Use about 1 generous cup of milk, enough to cover the ingredients in your blender.
• Great options include soy milk (for more protein) or cashew milk, almond milk, oat milk, or any plant milk you enjoy.
Baobab powder (or vitamin C)
• Swap it for 1/4 tsp of camu camu powder
• or for 1/4 tsp of acerola powder
• Note : check your collagen powder, some brands already come with vitamin C mixed right in (win-win)!
• None of these powders at hand? Just make sure you are getting vitamin C somewhere else in your day : pineapple chunk, an orange, a squeeze of citrus in your salad dressing, anything works !
A Pinch of Salt
• Don’t skip the pinch of salt.
• Note : it enhances the overall flavor and helps balance the sweetness of the dates while supporting hydration.
