Sweet Chocolate Blood Orange Slices

When it is the season, this dessert or quick snack is totally insane because of the orange twist and the chocolate ! A must try : you can not believe that it's healthy. And it works well as a gift.

Ingredients

ORANGE SLICES

  • 2 blood oranges, washed
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

COATING

  • 1 tbsp raw cacao
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 3 drops of vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp maple syrup

TOP

  • 1 tsp flakes of Himalayan Salt
  • 1 tsp cacao nibs

Instructions

ORANGE SLICES

  • Preheat the oven 165 °C (fan).
  • Wash the oranges, trim the ends of the blood oranges, and slice them (½ cm) keeping the skin. Remove the seeds.
  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Lay flat the orange slices on the lined tray and brush them with maple syrup over each slice (face down too).
  • Bake in the oven for about 30-35 minutes or until slightly brown on top.
  • Remove them from the oven and let it dry for 10 minutes. Place them in the fridge for about 1 hour.

COATING

  • Place the raw cacao, coconut oil, vanilla extract and maple syrup in a mixing bowl and melt over boiling water, bain-marie style. Mix well until melted and set aside.
  • Dip the orange slices halfway into the chocolate. Lay them down flat on a piece of parchment paper (over a dinner plate).
  • Top with salt flakes and cacao nibs.
  • Transfer to the fridge to set for about 60 min.
  • You can keep them in an airtight container in the fridge for 1 to 2 weeks.
